  Four years ago, this was a great local bar and restaurant for about a year, but the owner drove people away with his bad attitude. Lavender Bistro moved in from Rutherfordton with an authentic chef and promises of a great place to eat. He redecorated it to what is now a really nice and comfortable restaurant. We tried it a couple of times, but the food was just OK and overpriced. That owner lasted about a year and we tried it again when the next owner took over. They did not have a very good chef and again we thought the food was just OK and overpriced. It has changed hands probably twice since then and we have not been back. We may give it a try again when we have talked to enough people we know who can vouch for the food, When we go to McGourty's Pub next door there always seems to be people in Lavender Bistro, but the lack of interesting items on the menu and prices on the menu they display keeps us out. I certainly hope they can turn this into a winner, as Tryon needs more good restaurants.

  My partner and I came to the Lavender Bistro on a whim after visiting Tryon for an art gallery. The service was lovely but the food and decor were all together disappointing. The decor reflects the menu in that the surface looks five star but leaves little to be desired after the initial viewing. The decor appears to be French but after a few minutes we noticed that nothing matched in style or quality. I selected the duck and although it's plating was lovely, the flavour was bland and the only ingredient I could decipher was a touch of red wine. My partner had the trout and felt similarly about his food, it certainly was not worth the price. We will not be returning.

  It's a few hours later and I have been projectile vomiting since getting home, the lavender bistro is officially the worst place I've ever eaten. At this point I wish I had starved and just made food myself, would've tasted better and not made me sick. Awful restaurant. Dropped from two stars to one star and I wish I could give it negative stars.
